Young Riders

"About young riders, we don’t want to encourage them to ride long distance because we estimate it could be dangerous for their health.

I know some young riders are able to ride 200km but it is just exceptional. I was informed about a brasilian who rode a 200km with his son who was only 7 years old. I was very proud of this but, from my point of view, it is just criminal." Unquote

The GHATI Run

Hi,
I have been busy with other things but cycling. This is just to wake you up.This is specifically meant for all those who pooh poohed the flats.and were very snobbish about the easy nature of some earlier BRMs.This is what PBP is all about.

All ye PBP aspirants I hope you do still aspire.this is what separates the RANDONNEUR from the men and the woman.
29october is the day.
Have a close dekko at the map and if you find me wanting,we can stretch it a wee bit and make it 1000kms.
GAMES OVER.
Let the cycling begin.
Do you read me!!!

Excerpts of a letter from Audax Club Parisien Mr JG Faburel

Dear all,

As usual, I send you during this summer time (in the northern hemisphere!) a brief status of the BRM around the world during the last months and some requests for the next months…which are going to be more and more loaded for all of us!
Several new countries joined us during the last months and I am still waiting for some answers from other ones. There will be more than 40 countries organizing BRM in 2011 and we could reach the number of 50 countries soon. Thank to Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur, we are sharing world wide our passion for randonneuring and that’s a great news.
But the Randonneurs Mondiaux ‘s life is not always so nice. Niels-Ole Frederiksen, our representative for Denmark during many years, passed away on January 30th after a long struggle against cancer. Louis Beirinckx had a bad accident during a BRM 400 and he is still suffering now. Some of you have other health problems and you are still on track. Many thanks to them.
I would like to thank you all for your hard work during the last months and still now. The new pre registration rules increase the number of BRM ridden this year and you are facing that growth without any problem. It’s too early to give you accurate figures but we should be in 2010 over the number of BRM homologations for 2007 (outside France). At least, eight countries will be over 500 000 km of cumulated BRM in 2010. Only seven countries were over 500 000 km in 2007… That's one of the results of your great daily work for BRM.

We have now to prepare our calendar for next year. As we are going to have a lot to do, I ask you to return it to me no later than September 15. Of course, if your schedule is completed before september 15, please send it to me immediately.
If you have new routes, I remind you that you have to send them to me for approval.

I would like also to receive a short presentation of your country for the next PBP brochure. I need 5 to 10 lines in english and in your own language, your photo and a photo of your country (riders, typical landscape, etc…). Please, don’t send me your presentation after October 15. If you can send it in September, it will be great.

I will send you more informations about PBP pre registrations, registrations and quotas in October or November.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the 2010 homologations, the 2011 BRM calendar and any other topic about BRM.

Thanks for your great help.

Whats this tough biznes?

When the tough get going,do they forget things like civility, decency, camaraderie. No they become more polite, gentller towards all those who may not be as gifted as they are,or may not have planned as well as them.

Does this give a license to all those who were not tough enough to be rude or impolite NO.
Please smile at the curious kid who touches your imported bicycle.Say hullo to the surprised villager, take the time to answer the truckers query, chat up the chaiwallah , and INQUIRE of the Controles if they need anything.
REMEMBER THE PARTICIPANT HAS TO GO TO THE CONTROLE NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!!!
A situation was created during our 2nd BRM the 300kms,  Which I personally found very embarassing if not distressing.

The Group

Randonneurs for people on cyclists.in

Blood Sweat and Tears, thy name is Gulab Pandey

We are making a special mention of rider no 68 Shri Gulab Pandey. His entry was free,he rode just for a hug from the organiser, nothing more nothing less. This was to proove to all his jeering acquaintances that one needs only a BIG heart (pun intended)Click to view image details  to acheive great objectives.Gulab  is a delivery person for a grocer rides the heavy roadster with carrier, centrestand etal. When asked to remove the heavy carrier,he replied,"I can carry a damaged cyclist if required".Jai Ho!
HE RODE WITHOUT BACKUP! WE KNOW YOU ALL DID!
We are aware who DID NOT!
PLEASE ADMIT if you rode with backup mobike, AND WITHDRAW FOR A BETTER SECOND ATTEMPT!
ELSE YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO LOOK ANY RANDONNEUR IN THE EYE!

Some results have been kept in abeyance.Do mail me or better still meet me, immediately if you are not mentioned in the results post.

The Spirit of PBP!

All you out there who appreciate the idea of randonneuring, but could not join our 1st BRM The Mahalakshmi Yatra, due to various reasons as not in training,no cycle available, too much physical exertion ;-),no time for training, or whatever.
Keeping the spirit of PBP in mind you all could chip in by being present at the beginning or at any of the controls to cheer us.

CHEERING IS NO SMALL MATTER

You could come in the morning for the start or in the afternoon to watch them finish.

Also you may take it upon your self to provide water or snack somewhere on the route at a little cost or if you feel generous anything goes.Especially for the slower ones and on lonely stretches where there are no shops etc.fichier ./ImagesPBP/dscn_2b21bd2995e7ff9f6937175d1147539522ee991720080404093608_at-0.jpg affiche

But this has to be for any rider who approaches you till your stock lasts not for a specific person or group!!!

WE WOULD LOVE YOUR PRESENCE.
